A hotel room.

A well-chosen hotel room is an easy, stress-free option. Good natural light, styled interiors, no prep required on your end. If you’re considering this route, look for large windows, neutral décor, and minimal clutter. Booking two nights, if that’s feasible, means you’re not rushing the morning of.

A Peerspace rental.

Peerspace listings are built specifically for shoots like this, which means more flexibility on style and setting than a typical short-term rental, and no guessing about whether photography is allowed. Look for listings with strong natural light and uncluttered, neutral spaces.

Your own home.

There’s something genuinely personal about shooting somewhere that’s actually yours. It’s familiar, private, and already has your own touches in it, a favorite chair, your own bedding, small details that make it feel like you rather than a set. The best light in most homes tends to be the bedroom or living room. Clearing clutter beforehand keeps the focus where it should be.

Outdoors.

An outdoor session brings in movement and natural light in a way indoor spaces can’t. Sunrise or sunset tends to give the most flattering light. Secluded beaches, gardens, open fields, or a private backyard all work, the main requirement is somewhere you’ll actually feel comfortable and unobserved. Flowy fabric, a sheer robe, something that catches the wind, works especially well outdoors, movement and natural elements are part of what makes these sessions feel different from an indoor shoot.

Something less expected.

A vintage car, a rustic barn, an industrial loft with exposed brick, these locations bring a different kind of texture and mood into a session. If a specific unique space appeals to you, a lot of event venues rent by the hour, and it’s worth exploring what’s actually accessible before assuming it isn’t.

What actually matters most.

Whatever setting you’re drawn to, comfort should come before aesthetics. A stunning location that makes you tense won’t photograph as well as a simpler one where you can actually relax. We’ll help you think this through as part of planning your session.
