One of the easiest ways to personalize your session is a mood board, a simple collection of images that helps define the look, feel, and energy you’re drawn to before you ever step in front of the camera.

We use Milanote for this. Once you’ve booked with us, we build your board and send you a private invite, free for you to accept, no cost, just a quick account setup. It’s not searchable by anyone else and not public the way some platforms are, so you can save whatever actually speaks to you without wondering who else might see it.

What a mood board actually does.

Putting together a handful of images that catch your eye helps clarify things you might not have put words to yet. Do you lean toward dark and moody, or bright and soft? Are you drawn to lace, an oversized sweater, or something classic? Certain angles or expressions that make you feel like yourself? None of this needs to be decided in advance. The board is just a way of noticing patterns in what you’re drawn to, and it gives us a real head start on planning around your vision instead of guessing.

If you’re still deciding who to work with, building a mood board is still worth doing, with any tool, Milanote, Pinterest, a folder of screenshots, whatever’s easiest for you. Gathering your own inspiration ahead of time helps no matter who ends up behind the camera, and it’s a genuinely useful step in figuring out what you actually want before you commit to anyone.
