Most of the hesitation we hear before a session comes down to the same handful of beliefs, repeated in slightly different words. Here’s what we actually tell women who believe these things.
“I’m not a model, and I don’t look like one.”
Almost none of our clients are. What makes those photos work isn’t professional modeling experience, it’s guidance. We walk you through every movement and angle, and the polish comes from lighting, posing, and how the session is actually run, not from anything you need to bring with you.
“I have no idea how to pose.”
That’s genuinely our job, not yours. By the end, most women say it felt more natural than they expected.
“I need to lose weight first.”
Your worth in front of the camera was never tied to a number. If you’re waiting for a different body to feel ready, that wait doesn’t have an end point. And if you do reach a fitness goal later, that’s its own reason to come back, not a prerequisite for coming now.

“I’m too old for this.”
Every stage of life is a real reason. This isn’t about looking younger. It’s about being seen clearly at the point you’re actually at.
“I’m too shy, and I’ll be nervous the whole time.”
Most women are, at first. Give it about fifteen minutes. That’s usually about how long it takes before the nerves settle and something more natural takes over.
“I don’t have the right lingerie.”
This was never really about lingerie. An oversized sweater, a favorite t-shirt, whatever actually feels like you, works. Some women like starting a session in a dress or something they’d wear out, then moving into something else as the shoot progresses, which is a great way to ease in. A full session shot only in a dress isn’t quite boudoir though, more of a portrait, so if that’s the only piece you bring, we’ll talk through adding something else in your wardrobe consultation.
“My photos will end up online.”
Never without your explicit permission. What happens with your images, who sees them and when, is entirely your call.
“Photographers who charge less exist, shouldn’t I just go with one of them?”
Price is worth weighing, and we’d never tell you it isn’t a real factor. But it’s fair to say plainly: the experience, the guidance, and what you actually walk away with vary a lot between studios, sometimes more than the price difference suggests. What you’re paying for isn’t just the session itself, it’s the whole process around it. Worth understanding what’s actually included before deciding on price alone.

“It feels vain to want photos of myself.”
You wouldn’t call a painting vain. This isn’t different.
“My family or friends might not approve.”
This one isn’t for them.
“I don’t want to do this alone.”
You don’t have to. Plenty of women bring a friend, or book a joint session with one. And if you come solo, you won’t be on your own once you’re here, either.
“This has to be for my partner, doesn’t it?”
Husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, whoever that is for you, they’ll likely love having it. But that’s not really the point of the session. The actual reason tends to be closer to what you feel looking at your own photos, not what someone else sees in them.
When you’re ready
If something else is holding you back that isn’t on this list, that’s exactly what a Discovery Call is for.
